USPS Move Update tightens requirements for presorted First Class and Standard bulk mail.
BrightKey is prepared for the USPS Move Update - Oct 13, 2008

In an effort to ensure maximum mail piece deliverability, increase system wide efficiencies, and manage costs, the United States Postal Service will be implementing stricter regulations for presorted First Class or Standard Mail bulk mailings through the Move Update initiative. 

 Move Update standards provide ways for mailers to reduce the number of mail pieces that require forwarding or return through the periodic matching of a mailer’s address records with customer-filed change of address orders. 

 BrightKey is prepared to assist clients with taking control of data that is used for bulk mailings to ensure compliance with the Move Update mailing guidelines through the following solutions:

 NCOA Processing:  For those clients who prefer to have their data run against a USPS approved change of address database prior to the processing of each bulk mailing, BrightKey will perform this service and produce the necessary certification to ensure that all mailings are 100% Move Update compliant. 

 Ancillary Service Endorsement:  Mailers can meet Move Update requirements for presorted First Class Mail service or Standard Mail service by using the following endorsements to update addresses:

  • Return Service Requested (the USPS returns UAA mail pieces with a new address or the reason for non-delivery at no charge.)
  • Temp-Return Service Requested (First-Class Mail only; the USPS forwards the mail piece at no charge but does not provide a separate notice of a new temporary change of address (COA)).
  • Address Service Requested (varies by time period, see table below)

Through the use of BrightKey’s ink jet capabilities, Ancillary Service Endorsements may be completed on almost any mail piece that moves through the BrightKey Mail Processing Center.
